1. About the College :

The Centre for Post Graduate Studies (CPGS) is a constituent part of OUAT and was established in the year 1998. The CPGS is offering three career oriented Masters’ programme in Computer Science &Application, Bioinformatics and Agribusiness Management as Self Financing Courses. These programmes are open to students all over the country.

2. Facilities :

MEDICAL, LIBRARY AND HOSTEL FACILITIES

  • The University runs a Dispensary managed by experienced doctors. It provides outdoor treatment to the students of the university.
  • Each department has a library for references. Besides this, the students get the facilities of central library of OUAT for reading books, journals and periodicals.

HOSTEL FACILITY

  • Hostel accommodation shall be provided to P.G. students subject to availability of seats. After admission, the students shall apply to the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) through the concerned Dean of the college for their stay in hostel. However, a student whose parents are staying at Bhubaneswar maybe allowed by the DSW for permission to stay outside the hostel during the course of his/her study. But in the case of foreign students, no such permission will be granted. The students desirous to stay outside the hostel shall obtain a day scholar certificate from Dean, Student’s Welfare, O.U.A.T.

Other facilities of Dept. of CSA :

  • The Department is well developed with all basic infrastructure facilities. The class rooms are spacious, well ventilated, lighted and equipped with all advanced audio-visual teaching-aids. The theoretical learning inside the class is usually happen through demonstration, slides, case studies, quizzes, assignments. For a strong practical knowledge, the labs are well equipped with required hardware, specialized software, and high speed Internet connection. We have a separate 100-seated size seminar hall which is exclusively used for seminar or workshop purpose. The department library is rich with more than 3000 books of computer science. The students can avail almost all the books they need in one semester.

3. Selection for admission:

MCA (Master in Computer Application)

For admission into MCA, a candidate must have passed

(i) +2 from CHSE, Odisha or its equivalent.

(ii) Any Graduate from a recognized University with at least 50% of marks in
aggregate for General Category and 45% of marks in aggregate for
SC/ST/PH category candidates and 55% for Graduate of Agriculture and
allied subjects.

(iii) Mathematics or Computer as one of the subject in +2 or Graduation level.

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES

The selection of candidates for admission into MCA, M.Sc. (Bio-informatics) and MBA (Agri Business Management) will be based on academic career. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of following weightage of marks secured by the candidates in the different examinations.

HSC level :20 %
+2 level :30%
Graduation level: 50%

The department of CSA was established in the year 1998 with the student intake capacity of 60 per year. It offers three-year full-time courses leading to award of Masters’ degree in Computer Application (MCA). The course curricula are designed to meet the professional requirement of Information Technology (IT) industries. The department computer laboratories are furnished with modern software and internet connectivity so as to provide the opportunity to the students to work on software platforms prevailing in the I.T. industries. To face the challenges of the stiff competitive environment of the present scenario, the department is prepared with solid foundation, responsible institution, command over the subject, adequate infrastructure and appropriate manpower. Many firms associated with the software industry have sought skilled manpower from this campus, proof enough of the quality that the department infuses into its students.

Few of the major research areas are Wireless Sensor Network, Cloud Computing, Big data, Natural Language Processing, Software development methodologies, Machine Learning. There are many national and international journals, conference papers in the name of faculties and students of the department.

8. Events

Traditional festive like Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, etc. and National festivals like Independence day, Republic day are celebrated by the students of the college in very organized manner. The students also actively participate in different competitions and functions may it be a Play, Dance or song, Acting, Anchoring competition or may it be debate, quiz or rangoli competition or it may be any kind of sports Competition like running, long jump, high jump, discuss throw, tennis, carom board, etc.
