            The College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna is one of constituent Agriculture College of OUAT established in 2009. The foundation stone was laid on 7th Feb, 2009 by Hon'ble Chief Minister Sj. Naveen Pattanaik. The College started functioning in its new building since 2015. The college is spread over an area of 28.66 ac including 4.1 ac of instructional farm area. The college is strategically located on Raipur Highway and adjacent to the Bhawanipatna Municipality. Currently the college is functioning in a two storeyed building with academic and administrative wings. 

            The college provides 4 year bachelor's degree in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture. Every year students are admitted on the basis of ranking in the Common Entrance Test conducted by OUAT and students from different states are admitted through ICAR All India Entrance Examination for Admission to Agriculture. Annualy the intake capacity is 100. The B. Sc (Hons.) Ag. course programme is designed as per the 5th Deans' Committee. 

            The college has developed beautiful gardens, ornamental lawns and a rosarium which contribute to the overall aesthetics of the college and enhance the learning experienceInstructional farms is used for imparting practical exposure to students and for conducting field experiments. The institute consist of additional mango, guava, banana, aonla, custard apple demo orchards for conducting different horticultural activities. Shade net house (1000m2) is used for training the students on production of planting materials of different horticultural crops and Hi-tech vegetable cultivation around the year. It is at the instructional farm where the students are given lessons in plant propagation techniques, crop  production, mushroom production technology and this instills confidence in the students. The dedication, commitment and loyalty of the teaching and non-teaching staff, along with the enthusiasm and achievements of the students over the years, have contributed largely in bringing the college to its present position.

Students Ready Programme : 

            Student READY program is introduced in fourth year. The aim components of student READY are:

  • Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE)
  • Experiential Learning with business mode
  • Hands-on training (HOT)/ Skill development training i.e. Experiential Learning without business mode
  • Internship/ In Plant Training/ Industrial attachment
  • Students Projects

RAWE (Village Attachment Programme)

The RAWE programme for the 4th year B. Sc. Hons. (Agril.) 7th semester students was conducted for Village Attachment Programme under Student READY as Student Associates. The Student Associates worked are  allotted  to different blocks for a period of 8 weeks under the supervison of ADAPT (Agriculture Development Associates Programme Team) to created awareness about different schemes and programmes of Agriculture department among the farmers through direct interaction with them.

In-plant training

The In-plant training under student READY programme continue for 9 weeksStudents are attached with  Agro-industries/ NGOs for field-oriented activities and gained practical experience.

Experiential Learning Programme

            Experiential Learning (EL) with business mode helps the student to develop competence, capability, capacity building, acquiring skills, expertise, and confidence to start their own enterprise and turn job creators instead of job seekers.  

            Students participated in the experiential learning programme  with different modules viz: MODULE I- Mushroom production,MODULE II- Value addition of horticultural cropsMODULE III- Sweet corn production MODULE IV- Vermicomposting , MODULE V- Soil testing and preparation of soli health card, MODULE VI- Apiculture,  MODULE VII- Preparation of client problem based project report, to cultivate and market the produce with effective business planning.
